We should expect near perfection from our kids/teachers/parents and nothing less

Really? In what other field of endeavor do we demand that kind of standard?

We keep getting seduced by charismatic leaders in education that can show results for a few years and then it drops off.

What we need is to structure the schools so that they can take kids from poor BG's and teach them to an acceptable standard. This requires strong principals with the ability to hire/fire in their schools at will. And a structure above them that fires them if they don't show results. This is what the Harlem project is doing.

This is how every successful private organization works. Good luck in ever getting our educational establishment to run this way.
