Mainly because the dollar didn't fall into the toilet at the same time.....that happened in the 80's, and stocks boomed.

I was about to say that interest rates were pretty high during most of the 70's especially during the later half. The recent example of hyperinflation causing stock market to rocket is Zimbabwe. That's what I would be afraid of most if I was short this market. Investors may see the market as a hedge against inflation this time around.
