Kathy and Gregor - 2 great posts and thanks for educating me on this point.

I've stayed away from mutual funds as I do my own work so it's not an area that I follow in any detail. Logically, though, it is an inherent conflict of interest for the reasons that you have cited.

It's just inconceivable that this conflict is allowed to continue and without very large print disclosure and ability to opt out.
