I just read a new an interesting book called Emergency, by Neil Strauss.

The author comes from a very urban environment, and worked as a music reporter and critic for Rolling Stone.

The author becomes concerned about the direction the US is taking, and looks into overseas bank accounts, then alternate passports.

He then looks inot the survivalists of various types, learns to survive in the woods (not easy for him) then stockpiles suppplies.

He then decides to take an EMT Emergence Medical Technician course.

In the last part, he starts building a network for friends and co-workers - and decides that making himself useful is good strategy.

******

This book shows that the idea of moving out of the US is going mainstream.
