Macau may have fate similar Hong Kong.

I'm not sure how the Carribean islands get enough food or diesel with a large scale econommic distruption.

Almost every small Caribean (except T&T) island has a dependence on tourism, meaning disposable income in the first world.

We should research how the islands did during the 1973 oil crisis.

I was thinking Chile, which has what it needs except for hydrocarbons. The nice thing about Chile is they have experienced both extreme left and extreme right, and seem to be strongly attracted to the middle. Relatively diverse population, ehtnically and religeously.

Being a food EXPORTER - fruit, wine, fish - chances of hunger problems are low.

The only other candidates might be Switzerland and Canada.
