Well, if you "conservatives" put up some bible-thumpin', gay hatin' (R)'s to run against Snowe and Collins in Maine, you'll just lose in the primaries. If by some miracle you did win, you'd lose in the general election. Seems like a completely wasted effort to me. You're right, Maine IS conservative, but not extreme right wingnut conservative. It's Stephen King conservative in that it wants small, efficient government (just big enough to do what it's supposed to do), government out of people's lives (even if they're gay), less money spent on defense, etc. RW and I are both conservative in that way too.
