The hard right are desperately hoping for another terrorist attack, or continued economic collapse. That's the only chance they have of America coming back to them, begging for forgiveness, saying "we were wrong to ever leave you."

That's their wet dream. (And that scenario is dubious at best.)

But in the real world, they'll keep losing elections until they change. America doesn't change to accommodate a political party. It has to be the other way around.
