here is an interesting take on the market:

exchange2000.com

note that this individual is obviously long WIND. also note that it has been Druckenmiller's Soros Fund which helped created many the huge short positions in Thai and Malaysian currencies and the devaluation thereafter. Druckenmiller is also shorting the Hong Kong currencies according to sources. what Druckenmiller and Soro do is that they will go long or short several companies that are greatly affected by the currency devaluation. they especially like going long technology companies with high short positions which will be affected positively. they buy a huge position in the company and take delivery of the shares. this in turn causes the market makers to call in the short positions thus driving up the price of the stock. this technique was actually claimed against Iomega as Druckenmiller went long Iomega knowing that a devalluation of currency in Thailand would benefit IOM's earnings, which it did, driving IOM's price up from $22 to $28 in short order as the market learned of Druckenmiller's long position (which causes which, who knows). Thailand's leader blamed his currency devaluation, as you know, on Soros.

as for semi fabs being affected - this is pure speculation, as it won't affect CYMI whose earnings are dependent on companies producing higher yields with .25mu, thus generating higher earnings income
