Yes this was a nasty attempt to prop the market. Insurers, like PRU bounced a lot as Goldman put out a "tactical upgrade" on HIG and MET. That happened while the IYF was already falling (and the FAS lost a further half point as it fell below 11). It took nearly until the close then the situation calmed.

The real crime was to drive cof so quickly up to 31 in the last few days. (I went short COF at 29.6 and 30 and had to wait quite a while until that turned).
