There is good humor and bad humor. We can't always predict what will cause an outbreak of laughter. There are some formulas and some situations that automatically release what ever is humanly pent up. Some people are good at it, some are just annoying. Some people laugh easy some take a major make over.

Good humor, however, should never cause harm through humiliation like pointing out another person's foibles, or like psyche damaging insults. Some times a well meant banter or tease can be over done and the defensive remark afterwords of, 'hey, I was only kidding,' doesn't fly where an apology would be more appropriate. Same with trying to dismiss something as a joke, which was designed to do damage.
