The real driver for the run up in the market was the plaza accords. This resulted in over 1 trillion in foreign money coming into our bond and stock markets. The flow stopped in June. The mutual fund money was only 1/3 of the new money. Any one that believes that the market will go right back to where it came from and then on to 10,000 in a couple of months needs to explain how Asia will come up with a trillion to invest here this time around or they need to find a spare trillion somewhere else.
