Hi TJ

you are right about my allergy to those lesser islands, and yes, the koh's of thailand would be preferable. the issue of the king's health bothers me, but probably less than pure boredom would trouble me :0)

The Kings health and the uncertainty of who will replace him bothers most with any interest in Thailand. OTOH as long as one is multi-national and does not make on ones living locally does it matter? Thailand relies on tourists and whoever is in charge has to keep that number one or he will not keep power long.

philippines would not do due to its lack of medical infrastructure.

Good point and those Catholic countries have some crazy ideas too.

in either location we would have to organize home school. Yes, for now maybe, but let us not forget out new wonder boy Treasury sec was educated in Thailand.

since our last meeting, my buddies and i are more convinced than ever of hk's inherent, intrinsic, built-in, and learned advantages for the coming times of troubles.

Definitely, has it's advantages, no argument here. It's like a cross between New York city (or London) and one of the afore mentioned islands.

It is ironic that we dream of living in these islands of paradise such as the bahamas and when we get there we get bored to tears. maybe as Captain Kirk said in one of the episodes of star trek, man wasn't meant for paradise but to struggle and claw his way forward. Well in HK you have a bit of both, lucky you:}
