Those previous peaks were WWI and WWII and they both ended and the deficits declined too.

The current deficits are not projected to go away. Ever. Barring MASSIVE tax increases.

We're headed toward an economic showdown of some kind.

The spigots weren't opened to prevent a depression. A "crisis" was not "wasted" and the spigots were opened in hopes of building a new giant infrastructure that will force massive tax increases and socialism on us.
