Abortion
This is a tricky one. The easy part is that I am against any government funded abortion. Abortion certainly isn't covered in the U.S. Constitution as a responsibility of the government.

so, why is it tricky? well, it comes down to when does that fetus become an independent "human"?

I think some of the more religiously conservative views bring us down a slippery slope that they wouldn't even want to go down.

If a fetus is a human upon conception and abortion is murder, logically, doesn't that mean that every miscarriage should be investigated to determine the cause of death? If not, why not? would every pregnant woman need to worry that she could be prosecuted for manslaughter or negligent homicide if she goes out and plays tennis and falls down? If one equates abortion with murder, then logically all of the other legal ramifications would follow. I really don't think anyone wants to go down that path.

So, I am going to stick with it being a woman's individual right to make that decision for herself.

however, she not only doesn't have the right to government assistance, the government has no right to provide that assistance.
