Actually nuc_trader is wrong with regards to me, I set up the billing software from get go some 9yrs ago and install the upgrades myself when necessary, it takes little time- I run my system on MAC's- as far as claims go I do use an intermediary for claims i.e. I send them during the day about 5 mins the clearing house sorts them and forwards them, the monthly fee is about 70.00, claims are priced and forwarded to payors, when a payor has a problem and wants more info, we simply go to the dictation file print it out and fax it to them, this is seldom but does occur maybe 10 mins on the oft occaison.

overall I spend about 5-7% Max of my time with this and dont have that overhead, when I dictate/bill, I already know most of the codes and modifiers and put them on the superbill for my entry staff to easily see, and yup I check the claims before I send them to make sure they did it right but again the amount of time it takes is small-

perspective: large groups do need staff to figure it all out and most dont know the codes so they have to have someone to look them up before entry, occaisonally I may not remember codes but after 22yrs of practice and the last 9 running my own show it's old hat-

hope this helps
