I couldn't take it anymore -- my apologies if any of Linda's nephews reside on this thread, or even if you're not related to her, if you simply don't see things the way I do on the subject -- but this issue has bugged me for years now, and when around 3:45PM she launched into how today's up somehow means on her apparent good authority that the market will now not get a correction at all, I felt obliged to finally stand up and be counted
I just fired off the following email to BNN:
Could somebody in management please ask Linda Sims to just report the news and figures on market activity without giving us her amateur interpretation of what she thinks is happening or of "why" something is or is not moving? We don't care what Linda Sims thinks about stock prices, she's not an analyst, not that a lot of analysts out there deserve much attention either.
No one except Linda Sims is interested in what Linda Sims thinks or believes as to why stocks are moving or not, as anyone with a brain realizes that she couldn't possibly know such things, although she tries to speak with authority as if she does know. She also routinely comes across as someone totally biased to the long side, and you can almost hear her cheering "Oh goodie" on up days as if equity investing was some kind of 'scratch & win' game. In self defense I've gotten into the habit of trying to hit the mute button whenever she comes on these days, but unfortunately I'm not always within reach of the remote.
It may seem like I'm only picking on her, but most everyone else on your network doesn't seem to have a problem being neutral in their remarks and keeping their own personal opinions under control, but Linda doesn't seem to be able to do that; she just keeps on "explaining" "why" ABC went up or XYZ went down, but in doing so, she makes herself look like a fool and diminishes the quality of your otherwise excellent market coverage.
So please give your viewers a break and nicely ask Linda to just read the news and spare us her amateur editorials. I'm getting tired of always having to hunt around to find the remote. |
