"And cancel contracts with Intel, change their marketing strategies, order new motherboards, create new product lines, drop prices on their existing lines, reduce profit margins .."
My, you sure do have an active imagination...
For example, unless they signed a contract in perpetuity, you really haven't explained why it would require canceling any contracts. Nor the rest of the stuff you have imagined here.
"Should I go on?"
Yes. I find this entertaining.
"Apparently you don't if you think it's that easy for an OEM to build systems around one million dumped CPUs"
You are trying to imply said CPUs were dumpster filler. On what are you basing this claim?
"especially if they don't meet the needs of said OEM."
And you base this on what, exactly?
"When supply exceeds demand, it's not the job of the OEM to try and sell the excess supply."
Nobody is claiming it is.
Except for you, that is.
"That's what AMD is arguing when they think the OEM MUST accept the free parts. No, they don't have to."
No they aren't, Tenchu. AMD is arguing that despite a very low price, and free is about as low as you can get, they still couldn't entice the OEM to go with a much superior processor. Which is supicious to say the least.
Because that was the case. Here AMD had a much superior product and they couldn't even give it away. Why was that? |
