What's amazing to me is that the same folks who scream at the top of their lungs about free market principles don't bat an eye at all the evidence of massive manipulation of the oil price. There is no free market in oil and there never has been. It is one of the main reason that we don't have renewable alternatives that are cheaper yet. But the day is now fast approaching where the manipulation can't overcome market forces. Then we'll see just how competitive oil is to renewables when all externalities are priced in.
