OK, I am a bit confused here about the deflation scenario. The government is printing money like mad. Other countries are saying "enough already!". I can see that Treasuries are going to tank because yields will have to rise... a lot.

Basically I see the dollar becoming worthless, and it seems inevitable. The prices of real items like food and energy are going to skyrocket in terms of dollars. How can we have deflation in that environment? What am I missing here? It must be something so obvious that hopefully someone here can straighten me out.

Can prices go through the roof and the dollar become worthless in a deflationary environment? That's a serious question, not a setup.
