And with law, you are typically dealing with money. In medicine, you are literally dealing with people's lives. I think the latter has to be way more stressful to deal with, plus all the ridiculous shifts that residents and interns have to pull.

I don't mean to denigrate any PhDs out there, but I think that MD schooling has to be the toughest of any profession.

I was surprised to hear that you are not getting all the shifts you want. About three days ago somebody on the radio from a hospital HR was talking about the nursing shortage and saying nurses can pretty much write their own job description.
