"Not at all. I just don't want an nVidia chip that has a history of failure problems. "

Given nVidia's recent history of heat problems and in the field failures, that might be wise. However, AMD did not have that history during the time period in question. In fact, they had a strong reputation for providing high performance, cool running processors. While their 130nm process started out rough, it ended pretty good. And 90nm was golden for AMD. 2005 was almost all 90nm production.

The loser at 90nm was Intel. Prescott was an embarrassment. Which is why they resorted to the tricks which got them slapped down in Japan, SK and now the EU.
