"Do you know how long negative reputations last?"

Can be a long time.

"AMD had a big hill to climb after the damaging Tom's Hardware video."

Get real, Tenchu. For one, most anyone with any brains realizes that without a heatsink you are asking for trouble. I know the Intel boosters latched onto that with a fever, but most of the tech sites pointed out how stupid the video was. For another, that was years ago. By your reasoning, Intel should still be suffering from the FDIV bug and the Rambus/MTH fiasco. Not to mention the 1.13GHz Pentium recall.

"One million free Opterons is a clear case of dumping"

It isn't dumping. And there is no proof it was Opterons, and in fact, almost certainly wasn't.

"especially in the server market where volumes are low."

That would only be one reason why it wasn't Opterons. What would have been the point? By that time AMD owned the dual socket and above market. Dual core had been introduced and that was only solidifying that reputation.
