I heard the announcement on the radio, "John Fitzgerald Kennedy is dead. He was the 35th President of the United States."

I was home from school that day. Must've been a teacher conference day or something. Remember sitting in the kitchen on the red stool talking with my mother when the news came across the radio. She was 33 then and a big Kennedy fan.

I remember watching on the black & white TV a couple nights later and watched live as Lee Harvey Oswald was shot by Jack Ruby.
