For the life of me, I really don't want to understand what their motives are.

The only two conclusions I can draw is that they are either as dumb as a stone, or they want our nation to fail completely.

If someone has a better explanation, I'm all ears.

The president let's it slip out now and then that the growing deficit is "unsustainable," but unless he's prepared to once again disappoint his base it will continue to be the least discussed and most important economic issue of his presidency.
