the population being lazy is a problem. but so is everyone's lack of understanding of economics. all my young life i've thought that the politicians in power understood many things very well. after all, they were in power. they got elected. they must know their stuff. now that i've learned a little about economics and free markets i can see that from top to bottom none of them understand what makes an economy work. the only exception that i can think of is ron paul.

now when i listen to them, they sound nuts and nonsensical. they get it fundamentally wrong every time. and of course the general population is about the same. when we get people in power that don't understand how an economy works, they do things to undermine it.

i think wage and price controls will be coming. then we will see lines for everything, just like russia. literally every thing the government is doing is making the situation worse. it won't be long before our empty warships sit in harbors rusting away because we can no longer afford to keep them up. our troops will have to come home and our overseas bases will have to close. people really don't understand how bad this is going to get. we could have gotten out of this with just a couple years of belt tightening if we had let the free markets work. but for some reason, the politicians believe they can escape the discipline of the market. they can't. all they will do is prolong and deepen the pain.

there's an old saying that people get exactly the government that they deserve. yes, unfortunately we will collectively get what we deserve. you and the members of this board don't deserve it, but we are the minority. the majority voted for obama with tears in theirs eyes. the majority voted in a liberal socialist congress. they got what they wanted, but i don't think they're gonna like it. there's gonna be hell to pay.
