Anothing thing to point out is that HP did take some of AMD's million free CPUs. The percentage was obviously much less than what AMD wanted, but I would contend the offer of a million free CPUs was extraordinarily high to begin with. (I know, AMD is free to do crazy things like that, but I'm only mentioning the size of the offer to put the small acceptance percentage in the proper context.)

That's why when AMD contends that "no rational computer maker would have left free processors on the table," they are creating an overly black-n-white scenario for their own benefit. Not that AMD should be expected to do anything else, but when the EU led by Neelie the Terrible accepts that argument verbatim, I have to cry foul.
