Unfunded wars, unfunded entitlements, trillion dollar deficits as far as the eye can see surely spells trouble for the USD. China is now investing in hard stuff, but at the same time has to be careful not to trash their existing US treasuries. Marc Faber calls these the short of the century. All this seems to be omitted from discussions about the price of oil. I do not see how the USD can be a safe haven, but I have been wrong before.
