Name me one republican leader, state or national calling for anyone to be purged from the party? Steele: Purging Centrists is 'Boneheaded' He must be talking to the grass roots. Being called names by the chairman really makes a person feel welcome and appreciated by the party. Another quote from Steel’s interview: How is kicking Colin Powell out, or kicking Dick Cheney out, or Rush Limbaugh in, gonna feed a child who’s hungry tonight — is gonna educate that child — and if we can’t speak to that, then all this other stuff is just noise.
