very good. you sure you dont want to un-retire and just evaluate y2k packages for a living? got that p/390 installed on your verandah yet?

mmmm....i'd have to hope that they've considered that. perhaps for vertex programs they extend the meaning of valid numerics. i dont believe that they use 'c','d','e' for zones eliminating the capital letters but lower case characters could be lower case characters or bigits, but nobody uses lower case anymore do they?

looks like there are a lot of issues to deal with when modifying data. i'd like to think that some ex-ibm'er somewhere considers user interface issues and doesnt just worry about results achieved in the laboratory,
