When one reads the headline (1) below, it is literally impossible to relate it to the statements from article in (2) through (6). If this is "backing Pelosi" I'd had to see what an abandonment of her looks like.

=====================

1) Obama Backs Pelosi as Republicans Step Up Pressure in CIA Flap

2) The Obama administration said it has confidence in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi

3) White House press secretary Robert Gibbs refused during his daily briefing yesterday to discuss whether Pelosi should come forward with evidence the CIA misled Congress.

4) “I appreciated the opportunity to get involved in this on Friday, and I declined and I haven’t changed my mind on Monday,” Gibbs said.

5) Asked whether President Barack Obama has confidence in Pelosi, Gibbs answered: “He does.”

6) Asked by reporters afterward about Pelosi’s allegations, he declined comment.
