If H1N1 flu does reach all corners of the world, the WHO's Chan said there would be certain communities at particular risk -- including people living in slums and shantytowns, pregnant women, and patients with HIV/AIDS and other health problems.

Yes of course some people will be more susceptible than others, but the tragic consequences to the aggrieved family are every bit as devastating. These populations can harbor the disease as it waits and changes.

It will be interesting to see how the disease progresses in China. Being a communist country, they can prescribe measures we would never allow here. They are at 4 maybe 5 cases and have the lessons of SARS to give them guidance. Here we will coach our decisions on what the consequences are to the economy. Will be interesting to see how the two cultures are able to manage the disease - if it is manageable.
