He also prevented any of the promised followup attacks after 911. He tried but failed to reform the mortgage industry and social security. Democrats fought him from start to finish, viewing preventing any reform as a great victory. So both problem areas continue to fester. You mention the auto industry - its going to be interesting to see how Obama runs GM and Chrysler since he owns them now. As for the "$1Trillion deficit", Obama's idea has been to double down on it and go for $2 trillion.
