So they'll have 4 socket boards available for it? That might be a decent machine.

We have ~2 year old AMD systems that are 32 core, and their performance is very, very, good. It's amazing what you can do with that kind of processing power. Dataset preparation for the annual hurricane season using specially shot satellite imagery, for example. Big AMD boxes were the only ones that could handle the processing load in a reasonable time frame.

Nice to see Intel is able to provide a little competition after all these years of being an also-ran (though it was able to mint money through abusive monopoly tactics).
