how does being 47th in spending account for the fact* CA teachers that are paid 25% more than the second place state?* You appear to be full of crap. California is 25% above the national AVERAGE. CA has an average salary of 63K, CT has 61K, and NJ and NY have 59K, RI, IL, and MA all have 58K.
