So according to Gallup the GOP is losing in almost all groups, but is gaining overall. That's very unlikely, and so probably doesn't speak well for Gallup's polls, but its actually remotely possible.

If it lost in almost all groups, but gained in a very few groups that where the largest it could gain overall while losing in most groups.

Alternatively it could be that the different polls cover different time periods, or that they use different methodology (which if they cover the same time period would likely mean one of the methodologies is faulty.

Edit - gallup.com says

"So far in 2009, aggregated Gallup Poll data show the divide on leaned party identification is 53% Democratic and 39% Republican", which ignores the recent change to 45%/45% observed in their most recent poll.
