Mark, Re: INTC refusing to develop an integrated CPU. What low end of the market are they neglecting? As far as I can see, they pretty much own all ends of the market. Besides, INTC did have an integrated CPU line a few years ago (way before the Cyrix GX CPU existed), it was discontinued for various reasons (I think among them being FAB capacity constraints, the added modules could be cheap ASICs etc.). I think we can infer with reasonable confidence that if the market shows any inclination for such processors (for instance by showing a sharp growth in the orders for the Cyrix GX part which has not happened yet), then INTC will be there.
In terms of improving Intel's situation - it might not happen (for instance its hard to see a dramatic improvement in margins), but even if they manage to maintain their margins (which I believe is very feasible), the growth in the PC market and other markets will take care of growth at INTC. As for competition turning their business into a commodity business, I wouldn't advise anyone to hold their breath for it,

Best Wishes,
MJ
