You are correct. It would have done very well without the hedges I also held (the hedges have been beaten to pulp since: the ESTX recovered its 2009 losses to flat now, but both the SRS and SKF lost nearly 70% of its sale price)

I held some stocks much longer; GMO for example which is a good metal play, and CLZR which I simply forgot to sell in another account and one shiny day it run to $1. URZ, I underestimated Uranium actually but with no demand in energy then?
Then there are some real stinkers, like GSIG which doesn´t seem to get off the ground, AIG which is up like 10% from the EOY value after the swing.

You see that was an entirely different market, one where the main objective was not to lose much capital.
