I love this line of thinking. Universal health care is a human right that should be enjoyed by all....and now that you have it, we can justify all sorts of intrusions into your life based on costs.

So should we drop all taxes on cigarettes? Is that an "intrusion" on freedom? Or, for that matter, why test any claims about drugs?

You just think this because sodas are such a ubiquitous feature of modern life. The fact that they are really unhealthy gets hidden in the patina of familiarity, and the fact that it isn't a poison that works quickly or directly. It is still insidious. And I speak as someone who used to drink the stuff a lot, and loved it.
