Excellent point. Germany didn't get to the 1929 level until Hitler turned the economy into a war machine.

You only think it is vague because it shoots down your argument.

It is very precise. The US was further along on recovery than any other country, save New Zealand. All of the economic indices, save exports were at or above the previous highs. This is despite being one of the hardest hit.

The argument that the New Deal policies prolonged the Depression is bogus. I'll grant you that not all of them helped, but no other country was as close to full recovery without something like the New Deal policies. If your thesis is correct, other countries, especially those that practiced more traditional recovery practices should have been doing better. They weren't, they were worse off, especially those that reigned in spending.
