The outrage of this is direct deposit is easier for the bank and cheaper than tying up a teller to take the deposit.

I hate BOA. Have a horror story from a few years back when we were probating my mother in law's estate. My wife was the PR of the Estate and made periodic preliminary distributions to her brother and sister and to herself. Some knucklehead at BOA saw checks going out of the Estate account and into my wife's account. Instead of inquiring, they froze our personal account. You'd think they'd have frozen the Estate account if they thought there was something going on, but nooooooooo. I had to take the matter all the way up to BOA legal to get it straightened out.

We thereafter immediately closed all BOA accounts and transferred our business to a local bank.
