i dont disagree with your larger point. I was only describing a system of direct democracy that enables folks to vote stupidly and emotionally as opposed to the NY and NJ model which at least permits governors to take political risk to do what they consider to be the right thing. Look at schwartenegger approval rating--prob no better than corzine but at least corzine and patterson in NY are able to get some stuff done.
