Ted--CBOE opens at 9:30. You can try filling orders then, but as in any high-traffic day, there is a delay for retail traders like us. I've found the CBOE sluggish for the past three trading days. Be sure to always place limit orders. In a market like this, the option MM can may not even see a market order until the price has gone way beyond what you want to pay. It's generally hard to participate in turbulent action like this on the retail level, but it largely depends on your brokerage, and when the order is placed. If you're expecting big movement right from the opening bell, it's best to position the day before.

Good luck!
