Greater China ETF Index Planned
By JESSIE HO

TAIPEI -- The stock exchanges of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China plan to jointly compile a Greater China index as a benchmark for exchange-traded funds, Taiwan Stock Exchange Corp. Chairman Schive Chi said Thursday.

The index marks the start of a cooperation among the Greater China bourses, Schive said at a news conference during an ETF market forum that was also attended by executives from the Hong Kong, Shanghai and Shenzhen exchanges.

Executives also plan to cooperate in cross-listing EFTs and developing other products, he said.

The four stock exchanges will start the cooperation after Taiwan and China sign a financial memorandum of understanding, Schive said, without giving a specific time frame.
