At least ten deaths in U.S. from H1N1 flu strain

HourSALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The U.S. death toll from H1N1 flu has hit double digits.

Among the latest victims is Marcos Antonio Sanchez, a 21-year-old Utah man. He checked into a hospital Saturday, vomiting blood and burning with fever. By Tuesday, his lungs had shut down. His mother had him removed from life support yesterday.

Doctors point out the man was overweight and had chronic medical conditions. But he hadn't traveled recently, so state health officials have begun investigating how he caught the virus.

Arizona also reported a death yesterday, a 13-year-old Tucson boy who died last Friday of complications from the flu.

The World Health Organization says the H1N1 flu strain has sickened more than 10,000 people in 41 countries and killed at least 80.
