Most of the gains in the service sector have come in West Coast states like California where union membership is now at 16.7% compared with a national average of about 12.1% ("Union Membership Up Slightly in 2007". Thanks for the data point. Do you remember when I told you that what Unions touch eventually dies? Watch the state of California. CA's problems are not the unions. Its mostly Prop 13: en.wikipedia.org BTW Prop 13 was created by conservatives as was the iniative that requires a 2/3 approval by taxpayers of any tax increase. The state has been hobbled financially ever since.
