May 22, 2009 Op-Ed Columnist Cheney Lost to Bush By DAVID BROOKS Thanks for posting this. It was on my list. From everything I've read, Brooks is absolutely right. Cheney lost Bush's ear sometime between 04 and 06; and Rice gained more of a hearing. Cheney is now trumpeting policies that lost in the Bush administration. Brooks complains that Obama's policies are more like Bush's in the Bush's latter years. Hard to know the accuracy of that since the Bush PR effort was aimed more at obscuring than communicating. But, if true, I'm not yet certain just what to make of it. I thought Obama's speech was terrific even though I disagree with some of it.
