What I meant to say more clearly is that we have FEELINGS of entitlement that are outsized compared to what we actually deserve. Americans arrogantly believe that they deserve all the best things in life, without having to work for it. It was this feeling of entitlement along with outright greed that has lead us to the precipice of economic collapse.

We need to return to the values of personal responsibility that Obama talks about. Everyone needs to first and foremost work hard and plan for their own lives and retirement. Then if catastrophe strikes, we can have a few safety nets in place to pick you back up when you fall. But I think too many people now EXPECT the government to do everything for them. Unfortunately, we are neither rich enough, nor smart enough to create a system where that is possible.
