Your vehemence is perhaps pointed in the wrong direction. I don't think I've ever denigrated the work you do or anyone who does the kind of work you do. Hell, I began my career as a paper boy and then worked at McDonald's. Then I put myself through college to get to where I am now. Just like Obama, whatever I have, I earned it.

And after all that, I look around at the people I spend my time with and I see that there is way too much of a sense of entitlement. No one deserves anything that they haven't worked for. That's what's fair. If we as a society want to come together and provide a safety net, then lets do that, but lets make darn sure we can afford it.

Right now, our medicare and social security obligations stand at $56 trillion. It's damned irresponsible to do nothing to fix that mess, because your children and my children and their grandchildren are going to shoulder that burden. And that isn't fair. I didn't work my whole life as hard as I did to see my children or grandchildren worse off than me.
