Republican identification even with Democrat in polls. Media lies about it, natch.

Less Honest Than Usual

This Chris Cillizza character says in the WaPo:

A new Gallup analysis shows that the precipitous decline in the number of people who identify themselves as Republicans is widespread across nearly every demographic group — a development that suggests that there is no simple solution to solving the party’s current problems.

He’s talking about the most recently released Gallup poll which actually finds that for the first time since 2005, as many people identify as Republicans as Democrats. Here are the results:

2009 May 7-10 GOP: 32% Dem: 32% GOP (w/leaners): 45% Dem (w/leaners): 45%
2009 Apr 20-21 GOP: 27% Dem: 36% GOP (w/leaners): 39% Dem (w/leaners): 50%

Big change. Can't credit anything Republicans have done for the change. Only makes sense as a reaction to Democratic leadership.

So in the last month GOP party identification has increased 5%, and this idiot with a journalism degree (but I repeat myself) calls that “shrinkage,” again demonstrating that liberals can’t do basic arithmetic.
