this issue of a flat tax irks me about republicans to no end.

Republicans characterize a flat tax as a flat tax on income, they may even include capital gains etc as income, but then they exclude FICA the most regressive tax in their stupid plan. In other words they are proponents of a flat income tax in conjunction with a regressive FICA tax, hahahahaha, which means the rich end up paying less and the middle classes continue to get socked with fica.
